Oaks

🌳 Welcome to Oaks!

The Oaks Room is where our oldest children build the confidence, independence, and skills needed for their next big step—school.

With gentle support from our experienced staff, children are encouraged to take the lead in their learning. Nearly all activities—from play to tidy-up—are done by the children themselves. They have free access to arts and crafts, construction, messy play, and more, fostering creativity and responsibility throughout the day.

A Typical Day in Oaks

  • 8:00 – 8:45 AM: Breakfast
  • 9:30 AM: Morning Snack
  • 11:45 AM: Group Time (discussion, singing, or storytelling)
  • 12:30 PM: Lunch and optional rest
  • 3:45 PM: Afternoon Tea

🌲Forest School

Once a week, children take part in Forest School sessions at Greenway Avenue Community Garden, where they learn through nature exploration and outdoor adventure.

Free Flow & Outdoor Play

Children enjoy free-flow play throughout the day, moving between activities at their own pace. Our garden is open year-round, offering space for climbing, digging, investigating, and imaginative play—whatever the season.

🎶 Music & Dance

Every Monday, we welcome Lucy Sparkles & Friends for joyful music and dance sessions. These activities support physical coordination, emotional expression, and early literacy—while having lots of fun

🏠 Treasures from Home

Each day, children may bring in a toy or object from home to share during “Treasures from Home.” This activity supports communication, emotional comfort, and builds a sense of community as children explain the importance of their treasure and ask questions of their peers.

✨ School Readiness

We introduce early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving through engaging, play-based activities. Children develop confidence in listening, speaking, and managing routines independently.

Trips & Excursions

We regularly visit local places such as:

  • Greenway Avenue Community Garden
  • Wood Street Library and Playground
  • Lancaster’s Home & Garden
  • Wood Street Indoor Market
  • Local shops

These outings offer valuable learning experiences that help children connect with the world around them.
