Welcome to the Willows!
This is where our youngest children begin their journey at Wood Street Nursery. Children in this room can start from 11 months old and transition to the Chestnut Room when they turn two years old.
A Typical Day in the Willows
- Our day begins at 8:00 AM, with breakfast offered on a rolling basis until 8:30 AM, allowing children to join as they arrive.
- Our garden is always open, and we love having our outdoor areas available for the children to explore and play in, no matter the season.
- Snack is served at 9:15 AM, and every day, we enjoy singing at 11:30 AM.
- Lunch is served at 11:45 AM, followed by naptime for those who need it.
- Afternoon tea is served at 3:15 PM.
Free Flow Play
Free-flow play is encouraged throughout the day, allowing children to explore the room, engage in different learning experiences, and build a sense of community with both our staff and their peers.
Trips and Excursions
In the Willow Room, we have weekly trips to places like Lancaster’s Home & Garden, Wood Street Indoor Market, and local shops. These outings provide children with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the outside world.
Music and Dance
Every Monday, we have music and dance sessions with the wonderful Lucy Sparkles & Friends. These sessions “engage the children in fun, meaningful, and appropriate lessons, enhance learning by developing physical, emotional, and intellectual skills, and create a sense of enjoyment and love for drama, music, and dance.”
